Administrator General Mrs. Lona Brown presenting Mr. Hugh Hussey with the Employee of the Year Plaque.
Polite and respectful, he performs his duties quietly and diligently. Few of us would be able to remain as composed and calm as he does after a day spent “fighting” the traffic and contending with the many unruly drivers on our busy roads. Mr. Hugh Hussey, nicknamed “Patrick” or “Ras” (no surprise there) has been employed to the Agency as a Driver for almost five years.

Not one to complain, Mr. Hussey on the contrary demonstrates a willingness to go the extra mile. He can always be counted on when needed for those special weekend assignments and despite his religious beliefs, is not averse to stopping at that popular location in Portland so that others may partake.

Mr. Hussey was born and raised in Kingston. He attended St. George’s College where he was actively involved in football and cricket. His involvement in these sports did not cease after leaving school as he continued to play for the Youth Club in his community.

An easy going individual, Mr. Hussey says his attitude to life is not to really make anything bother him, as that does not make sense. He tries to live as simply as possible. To him a very important ingredient in life however is peace. He does not like “quarrels and fuss”. People should be able to work out their differences. Mr. Hussey also believes in kindness towards others which comes from the good example set by his mother.

The father of two sons aged 25 and 23 years, he is proud of their accomplishments and his being able to equip them for useful occupations. Each of them is skilled in more than one trade he indicated smiling.

Nowadays Mr. Hussey’s hobbies are playing “Ludo” and dominoes to a lesser extent. His love of music is still very strong and he retains records from the days when he operated the “Family Stone” Disco. He enjoys exploring Jamaica and he is glad that his job gives him the opportunities to traverse the island so widely.

For his dedication, dependability and courtesy, Mr. Hussey deserves the recognition which has been bestowed on him with the award of Employee of the Quarter for July to September 2006.

He was eventually voted as employee of the year.

Congratulations Mr. Hussey.
